[Various] Dragon Soulbond AU Ficbits
Weiß Kreuz: Nagi and Mamoru, for
lady_ganesh.
"I'm sorry about this," the dragon said apologetically, craning his head sideways to peer at Nagi. "I know you probably have human things you would rather be doing, but I can pay you for your troubles."
Nagi shrugged, just a slight movement of his shoulders. Of all the things he'd never expected from life, a dragon bond was high on the list; he wasn't sure how he was supposed to react. The dragon was smaller than most adults, too, with dull bronze scales and large eyes.
The dragon ducked his head further down and pawed the ground. "I promise, you'll be well-treated," he said. "I've never had a human before, I really didn't mean for this to happen--" He paused, then, raising his head, and said, "You're a telekinetic, aren't you?"
"Yes." Nagi tensed warily, waiting to see if the dragon would attack.
The dragon's jaws gaped, baring a row of very sharp teeth that definitely weren't juvenile. But instead of attacking, he ducked his head back down again. "Oh, this is better than I could have hoped for. I'm Mamoru--"
Something resonated oddly in Nagi's head, and he winced, putting a hand to it. It wasn't like Schuldig; it was warm and nonthreatening and oddly right.
"--And you're Nagi," Mamoru finished, bumping Nagi's chest very gently with the top of his head. "Will you come with me?"
It wasn't like he had anywhere else to go, and if he tried to run… either the bond would kill him, or one of the other dragons would once they discovered his powers. He nodded.
Mamoru's eyes gleamed. "Good."
Bones/Supernatural: Sweets and Castiel, for
chash.
"I am a dragon of the Lord," Castiel said.
Sweets coughed. "Actually, I'm pretty sure that all the signs are pointing to you being my dragon." He considered this, then brightened. "Unless you meant that. I don't mind being called a lord, really. Lord Lance Sweets-- is that right?"
Castiel blinked in that weird reptilian way where he didn't actually close his eyes. "No, I am a dragon of the Lord."
Sweets felt his ego deflate a little. Were all dragons this stubborn? "No, you're my dragon."
Castiel tilted his head. "You belong to the Lord as well." That said, he flopped down onto his side, which panicked Sweets for three seconds before he remembered that bonded dragons enjoyed belly rubs.
He sighed and set to work scratching Castiel's enormous underside. They would work more on this later.
Here is Greenwood: Shinobu and Mitsuru, for
karayan.
"I destroyed his riches," Nagisa said mournfully, dabbing the handkerchief none too gently at some unspecific point beneath her eyes. "But daddy only scolded me for being so wasteful. 'Why can't you be more like Shinobu, Nagisa?'"
She honked, and the three humans scurried to pat her scales. "There, there, mistress!"
Mitsuru tugged at the ropes and waited for her to continue.
"And so!" She brought her head down so fast he almost didn't see her. "When I found out that he had bonded-- Shinobu! Bonded! I knew I'd won. He won't be able to refuse me anything with his bondmate in my claws! Ohohoho!"
"Mistress is so cunning," one of the bodyguards said, though his tone sounded more pitying than congratulatory.
"I know, I know, aren't I?" Nagisa arched her neck and posed. "And to think that it would be the human I tried to--" She gave a strangled little yelp and backpedaled. "I mean. To think that he would have such taste in humans!" She leaned her head down again to nudge Mitsuru's bare chest and flick her tongue against the skin. "Hmmm, I wonder…"
Mitsuru, who had felt a dragon's tongue there before and had felt groping human hands in far more intimate places, just sighed and kept working at the ropes.
Tales of Vesperia: Rita and Estelle, for
karayan.
Estelle's claws were lethally sharp, but as Ba'ul lifted into the air with the Fiertia, she skidded wildly, her limbs flailing out in every direction. Repede neatly dodged the collision, then sat and tilted his head at her.
Rita frowned and walked closer, though not too close. Estelle's crest was flat against her head, and she had her wings pulled in tightly as she dropped to the floor. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice low. "I don't know--"
"It's your claws," Rita said before she could get too far. She leaned over to touch one of them; sure enough, the polish hadn't worn off. "Really, what were they thinking? You can slice an enemy in two, but you can't keep your balance on a moving ship?"
Estelle's head lowered even more. "It was fine when it was in the ocean." Her tail lashed once.
Rita sighed and straightened, patting Estelle's nose awkwardly and feeling that familiar warmth as Estelle pushed into the touch. "Well, there's only one solution."
"Solution?" Estelle's crest rose just a little bit, so at least it didn't look so pathetic. "You're so smart, Rita!"
Rita patted her again. "This doesn't exactly take a lot of brainpower. Let's see how well you fly."
Shounen Onmyouji/Godchild: Masahiro and Riff, for
sarashina.
"I don't trust him," Mokkun growled. His head rested quietly on his folded front paws, but his lashing tail gave him away.
"Don't be silly, Mokkun." Masahiro tapped him gently with the brush before resuming his careful lettering. "He'll be just as bonded to me as I am to him."
Mokkun's fur fluffed out, and he stalked off into another corner to lie down again. "You're Seimei's grandson. You don't think people are going to want to use you because of it?"
Masahiro sighed. "I think you're just jealous, Mokkun," he teased. When nothing answered him but silence, he glanced over at the corner again. "Mokkun?"
But Mokkun had vanished.
Amatsuki: Kon and Kuchiha, for
branewurms.
"So, Toki," Kon said, "I see you've met my dragon."
Kuchiha's nostrils flared, and her eyes narrowed, her crest flushing. "Your dragon? Your dragon?" She swatted at him, knocking him backwards, and for a terrifying second Toki thought she'd killed him. But Kon just rubbed his head and grinned as Kuchiha's tail lashed back and forth. "Who does all the work around here while you go off and get into fights? You're the one who needs looking after!"
Toki yelped as her head swung to face him. "And you. Don't get any ideas from hanging around with him."
That said, she stalked off, shaking her wings and muttering about her stupid human as she went. Kon put the pipe back in his mouth. "She'll be back after she works it out," he said. "She can't take it out on me, after all."
"Your dragon," Toki said weakly.
Kon tapped his head. "Linked by our brains and everything."
"I'm nobody's dragon!" Kuchiha's voice rumbled back. "And I'll bite the next person who says that."
Tales of Vesperia: Yuri and Duke, for
cypher.
He had known since the first time he saw the pair of young dragons in Deidon Hold, one light, once dark, but he hadn't wanted to consider the possibiity. It was closeminded, perhaps, but there was nothing good that could come of a new bond except fresh pain.
And yet here he was.
He reached out to stroke Yuri's snout; Yuri's breathing was labored, and it would take far too long to heal even with Khroma's help. Duke could feel the wound as an ache in the back of his skull, nothing like the sharp blast from Elucifer's death but painful nonetheless.
The bond wouldn't be able to stabilize with Yuri like this. There was no harm in staying until he was healthy again.
Then Duke would leave, for both their sakes.
